Maintenance Training Try-Cycles have developed a range of maintenance courses ranging from basic bike safety and set up through to advanced mechanics.
All courses are delivered by qualified cycle mechanics with a wealth of experience in both workshop and road/trail side repairs.
Our training courses all include a health and safety induction and instruction on safe workshop practise with an emphasis on best practise in all circumstances.
Any of our courses can be tailored to best suit you or your group and can be delivered both in house or on site.
General Safety Course.
An introduction to a bicycle and its components providing a knowledge of correct safety check procedures also identifying fitting issues such as frame size, saddle height etc.
Basic Maintenance.
Aimed at beginners who wish to gain knowledge in basic adjustments and simple repairs.
Covering correct tooling, cleaning and lubrication as well as adjustments to brakes and gears.Also includes puncture repairs.
Intermediate Maintenance Course.
For people with a basic knowledge of cycle maintenance who wish to improve their skills.
Dealing with the replacement and set up of components.
The intermediate course aims to make people more confident when repairing or maintaining their bikes.
Advanced Maintenance 1.
Progressing from intermediate the advanced course deals with replacement and repair of all the components of a basic bicycle.
This includes aspects such as bearings and seals as well as an in depth analysis of the mechanics of specific components.
Training is also given on the application and use of specialist tools.
Advanced Maintenance 2.
A course designed for the technically minded cyclist who requires in depth training for specialist components.
This course includes hydraulic brake installation and bleeding, wheel truing as well as advice on suspension system set ups.
Wheelbuilding.
As the name suggests this course teaches inspection and identification of wheels and the art of wheelbuilding from component parts. For advanced mechanics only.
Trailside Maintenance.
A useful course for getting you home should disaster strike!
Wether alone or riding with a group it is not unusual for problems to occur.
A look at problem solving in the field with hints, tips and advice to get you out of a fix.
Dr Bike
In addition to our maintenance courses Try-Cycles can provide a Dr Bike service which entails the provision of basic safety checks and minor repairs for your organisation.( ie. schools, youth clubs or businesses.)
These are carried out on site from our travelling workshop, the ideal addition to any event.
